In the last few years Master John Darcy has grouped together under his strong leadership the many Irish clubs that form A.I.M.A.A. Ireland. He was first appointed A.I.M.A.A.’s Regional Director for Ireland and then A.I.M.A.A.’s Regional Director for Europe. At A.I.M.A.A.’s recent 20th Anniversary Celebrations and First Open Martial Arts World Championships he was promoted to ‘Master Darcy’.
Master Darcy has earned not only the respect and loyalty of his European students but also the respect and friendship of many of A.I.M.A.A.’s disparate family worldwide. It is a sign of this man’s character that he not only a colleague of Grandmaster Hee Il Cho’s but also his good friend. “I’ve had a most enjoyable relationship with Mr. John Darcy for more than 20 years, and have been very pleased with his great leadership and enthusiasm for A.I.M.A.A. Ireland. After his participation and support in the Association, there has been a tremendous growth in the organisation and motivated students” said Grandmaster Hee Il Cho, “Mr. Darcy has several trustworthy characteristics that allowed me to appoint him the responsibility of hosting our first world championships”. Master Darcy has been a strong and unifying force in Ireland, as can be seen from the membership growth its start 1995. A.I.M.A.A. Ireland is a family with Master Darcy at the head; this style of leadership is now being carried on through Mr. Peter Byrne, Regional Director for Ireland. Master Darcy will now do for Europe what he has done for Ireland. Master Darcy is in constant contact with Grandmaster Hee Il Cho and this brings A.I.M.A.A. Ireland closer to it’s American head quarters. Master Darcy travels to America frequently and brings with him many students each time to give them first hand knowledge of what training under his Grandmaster is all about. Master Darcy has organised several trips by Grandmaster Hee Il Cho and Master Philip Ameris to our shores. These seminars and grading's have noticeable improved the overall ability and confidence of the Irish students. September 2000 saw Master Darcy bring A.I.M.A.A.’s First Open Martial Arts World Championships and 20th Anniversary Celebrations to Dublin. Four years later Master Darcy almost single handedly organised AIMAA's second World Championships which again was a resounding success in no small part to his hard work and dedication to AIMAA and his love of TaeKwonDo. |
